Wild Rose Flower Essence

Flower essence is a beautiful way to work with wild roses. Flower essences capture the vibrational energy of flowers, providing gentle yet profound emotional and spiritual healing. It’s different than making a tincture, which focuses on the physical constituents found within a plant.

Emotional and Spiritual Qualities: Wild Rose flower essence is known for its gentle, nurturing energy, promoting self-love, compassion, and emotional healing. It encourages a sense of acceptance and inner peace, helping to release feelings of resignation or apathy. It helps revitalize oneself to be able to chase their passions and the energy to make life changes.

Materials Needed:

  • Fresh rose petals

  • Pure spring water or distilled/boiled water

  • Clear Glass bowl

  • Clean, sterilized glass dropper bottles (dark glass recommended)

  • Brandy

  • Cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer

  • Labels and pen

Instructions:

  1. Harvesting the Flowers:

    • Choose a sunny day for making your flower essence. Morning is ideal, after the dew has dried.

    • Take a few moments to breathe in deeply and connect with the plant before harvesting.

    • Select fresh, vibrant rose petals.

    • Gently pick the flowers, handling them with care to preserve their energy.

  2. Preparing the Mother Essence:

    • Fill a glass bowl with pure spring water.

    • Float the flower heads on the surface of the water. Ensure they are completely covering the water’s surface.

    • Place the bowl in direct sunlight for 3-4 hours. This allows the sun’s energy to transfer the vibrational essence of the flowers into the water.

    • Avoid touching the water with your fingers to maintain its purity.

  3. Straining the Essence:

    • After the infusion period, use a piece of cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer to remove the flowers from the water.

    • This infused water is now your “mother essence.”

  4. Preserving the Essence:

    • Pour the mother essence into a clean, sterilized glass bottle, filling it halfway.

    • Fill the remaining half of the bottle with brandy. The brandy acts as a preservative to stabilize and preserve the essence.

    • Seal the bottle tightly and label it with the date and the type of flower used.

  5. Making the Stock Bottle:

    • The mother essence is generally considered “too strong” to take, because it’s a highly concentrated container of vibrational medicine. The theory is that mother essence taken straight up would overwhelm the spirit instead of bolstering it. So we create what’s called a “stock bottle” or “dosage bottle” of medicine that we can take. To create a stock bottle from the mother essence, fill a dark glass dropper bottle halfway with brandy.

    • Add several drops of the mother essence to the bottle (typically about 7 drops).

    • Fill the rest of the bottle with spring water.

    • Seal the bottle tightly and label it with the date, flower type, and "stock essence."

  6. Using the Flower Essence:

    • To use the flower essence, take 2-4 drops of the stock essence directly under the tongue or add to a glass of water. Repeat this several times a day as needed.

    • You can also add a few drops to your bath, apply to pulse points, or use in a misting spray for a gentle energetic effect
